The Metropolitan Doula Group was founded on January 10, 1999 in response to a need that aspiring doulas expressed to further their education and commitment to birth after attending labor assistant training workshops.

Certified doulas, women in the process of becoming certified, and those interested in labor assisting attend monthly meetings where members discuss how best to meet the challenges of labor support in hospitals, birth centers, and at home. Speakers are welcome to share their knowledge and wisdom.
